ICYMI Ellen Degeneres won a Teen Choice Award for being the funniest person on the planet.

And she took the stage and the Internet by storm with an acceptance speech that offered a few wisecracks, and loads of wisdom:

The winner of a whopping 13 Emmys, 14 People’s Choice Awards, and numerous other awards for her humanitarian and animal rights efforts (she’s 100% amaaazing) emphasizes that she didn’t always win and certainly was not always chosen. AND WAIT FOR IT… because here comes some major truth from some who has lived it: “What makes you different right now, makes you stand out later in life.” And the truth bomb continued: “Embrace who you are, because being unique is very, very important and fitting in is not all that matters.”
